This painting was sort of a personal triumph for me; I haven't been a very productive painter
in these post-academia two years, and it has been a while since I'd done a painting this large. It's not like me to pay so much attention to non-subject related detail. As I seem to be in a phase of finishing up old tasks, I somehow managed to obsess over the painting until every detail was finished to my satisfaction.
It is to be a Christmas gift for my parents.
"Alley Behind 524" is the first painting I've done entirely Plein Aire.
